Zyna’s Story: Writing Her Own Story

I applied for a scholarship at Larita Academy because I wanted to expand my knowledge and build confidence in my everyday life. I wanted to grow as a leader, strengthen my skills, and open doors to new opportunities for work in the future.
Outside of Larita, I love creative writing and have a passion for supporting at-risk youth. The Academy felt like the perfect place to bring those interests together and learn how to use my voice in ways that matter.
“It has truly been such an eye-opening experience for me, and I have learnt so much about myself as well as the world around me.”
Those four days at Larita Academy were nothing short of transformative. Every workshop, conversation, and activity left me with new insights. What stood out most was the way the program helped me find confidence I hadn’t felt in a long time. I walked away believing in my ability to lead and knowing I have what it takes to pursue the future I want.
What inspired me most was seeing how much people care about young people and their futures. It impressed me that so many leaders and coaches were willing to share their time and knowledge. They didn’t just teach lessons; they showed us through their actions that care, support, and belief can change someone’s life.
I will never forget the guidance of Anita and Larry, along with the Larita community who welcomed me so warmly. They reminded me that leadership isn’t only about skills but also about the way you show up for others.
“The two of you absolutely astound me, and I am incredibly gifted to have met and had conversations with you, as well as all the amazing people who work with the two of you.”
One of the most important lessons I took away from the Academy was that I need to put more effort into achieving my goals. That might sound simple, but it has become a guiding principle for me. I now approach each day with greater intention, investing my time and energy into what matters most.
In our post-program survey, I shared that Larita helped me feel more able to identify and build connections with a supportive community, my tribe. I also left inspired to make new, positive changes in my life and more prepared to apply for jobs and training opportunities. These shifts in mindset are already helping me move forward with more confidence.
“As I write this, I am a person who knows I am capable of securing my place in the world and succeeding in all the ways I want to.”
Today, I know I have the power to write my own story. My life may not have changed overnight, but I have. I now see myself as someone capable of creating the future I want, and I am willing to put all my time and effort into making it happen. The impact of Larita Academy will stay with me for years to come. It gave me clarity, courage, and a community that I will always be grateful for. Most of all, it reminded me that I already have what it takes to succeed.
