Zahra’s Story: Dreaming Bigger

Zahra | Class of 2025
Zahra with Larita founder, Anita Pahor, and co-founder, Larry Kestelman

When I applied for a scholarship at Larita Academy, I wanted to learn more about business, leadership and confidence. The program stood out because it was about more than skills. It was about learning to believe in yourself, building a community, and meeting inspiring people like business leaders and athletes. I felt it was the right place to help me grow into the best version of myself.

When I started, my goal was simple: to grow as a person. I wanted to improve the way I speak, learn how to present myself, and understand what it takes to be a leader or entrepreneur. I also hoped to figure out what I wanted to do in the future, and to be around positive people who could guide and support me.

The most valuable part of Larita was the mentoring. The coaches were supportive and generous with their knowledge. They made me feel seen and helped me understand my potential. Hearing other people’s stories reminded me I am not alone. Larita gave me a safe place to try, to fail, and to keep learning.

"Go for it, even if you’re unsure. It’s a supportive, uplifting space that helps you grow in ways you didn’t expect."

That line captures Larita for me. Being part of the community showed me how important it is to have the right people around you. It changed how I see myself and what I believe I can achieve. I remember Larry encouraging us to keep exploring, not to stay in one place. Anita spoke about self agency, taking control of your life. Sam said to listen more and talk less. Those ideas pushed me to be intentional and to pay attention.

Since graduating, I have taken steps I am proud of. I applied for and got my first job, I am thinking about starting a small business, and I have begun learning to swim so I can one day work as a swimming teacher. At school, I am working harder and staying focused. For the first time, I feel excited about the future.

One of the biggest shifts has been education. Before Larita, I never imagined going to university. Now I see it as part of my journey. I understand how much it matters for reaching my goals, and I feel motivated to take that step.

"Even on days when I don’t feel motivated, I remind myself to stay consistent. That’s something the Academy really taught me: success comes from small, daily actions."

Today, I set clear goals, journal my progress, and keep routines that help me stay disciplined. Even when I lack motivation, I lean on consistency. Larita gave me the tools, the belief, and the courage to move forward.

The experience was a turning point. It gave me clarity, confidence, and a community that continues to inspire me. Most of all, it shifted the way I see myself and my future. For that, I am grateful.
