When I first applied for a scholarship at Larita Academy, I was searching for confidence, skills, and mentors who could help me shape my future. I wanted to grow my leadership, improve my communication, and discover career pathways that matched my strengths. The scholarship gave me a chance to learn in a supportive environment I might not have been able to access otherwise.

From the beginning, my goals were clear. I wanted to build my confidence, explore career options, and connect with mentors who could encourage me to stretch myself. The mentoring sessions turned out to be the most valuable part of the whole experience. Having someone listen, guide, and support me made me believe in my abilities. I learned to trust myself and take steps toward the future I wanted.

There were moments in the program that will always stay with me. One was the “think like you’re already a successful person” activity, which pushed me to imagine possibilities beyond what I thought was realistic. Another was the advice from Larry, Larita’s co-founder: “Don’t wait for the perfect time; start with what you have now.”

That message gave me the courage to stop doubting myself and start taking action.

Since graduating, Larita has influenced my personal and professional life in so many ways. I now have the confidence to speak up, network, and chase opportunities I once thought were out of reach. My thinking has changed completely from how it used to be. I enrolled in university and set personal development goals, like improving my public speaking. Every day I use the skills Larita taught me – communication, goal setting, and time management – both at work and in my personal life.

The Academy also opened my eyes to career options I had never considered. It gave me the tools to map out clear steps towards my goals. It showed me that opportunities are within reach when you have the right mindset and support. As I often remind myself now:
