50 Years of Deadly: NAIDOC Week

This week is NAIDOC Week, a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The 2026 theme, 50 Years of Deadly, honours five decades of NAIDOC and the Elders, communities, organisers and changemakers who have carried this movement forward.
At Larita Academy, we know meaningful support for young people starts with learning, listening and creating safer, more informed environments.
For the first time this year, we introduced a dedicated First Nations module as part of our Larita EmPath™ ecosystem. The session, On Country, was led by Kellie Langmaid, First Nations and Inclusion Manager at the NBL Group and a member of Larita’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
Kellie brought together lived experience, cultural knowledge and strategic leadership, guiding our coaches, support crew and partners through a powerful learning experience grounded in heritage, resilience, cultural safety and modern leadership.
NAIDOC Week is an important reminder that recognition must be matched by respect, action and ongoing learning.
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live, work and learn, and pay our respects to Elders past and present.
